Back Cihu Reopens for Trial Operations, Combining Forest Tours with Interactive Exhibits

Located at the entrance to the Northern Cross-Island Highway, Back Cihu began trial operations on April 22, 2026, for a two-month period, with its official opening expected in late June. The park operates on a reservation-only basis, with free admission during the trial period. A new round of reservations opened at 9:00 AM on April 23.

The park follows a one-way route, with professional guides leading visitors along an approximately 1.6-kilometer forest trail. Office No. 1 has been transformed into an immersive exhibition hall that uses historical photographs and AI-powered interactive technology to recreate historical scenes, allowing visitors to enjoy interactive photo opportunities. Office No. 2 features a Taoyuan food and beverage brand that has received a Green Dining Award and serves signature dishes made with local ingredients, including Taiwan shoveljaw carp, red bean sponge cake, Russian nougat, and Daxi dried tofu, along with beverages combining Cihu osmanthus and Taoyuan black tea.

In conjunction with the park's reopening, the "Taoyuan Travel" YouTube channel has resumed live video streaming from Back Cihu, allowing the public to enjoy seasonal views of the lake and forest online.

Since reservations opened on April 9, 2026, each time slot quickly filled up. On the first day of trial operations, which fell on a weekday, more than 60 percent of visitors were older adults. Some revisited memories of their lives through historical photographs in the exhibition hall and took part in the AI photo experience. The reopened park combines natural scenery, historical exhibits, guided tours, and dining. Office No. 2 is decorated with local plants, allowing visitors to discover local ingredients and stories of everyday life through its meals, in addition to exploring the forest trail.
