In 2025, the Department of Tourism, Taoyuan City Government partnered with Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung City to jointly host the Keelung-Taipei-New Taipei-Taoyuan Tourism Promotion Conference at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore. The event attracted more than 100 local travel industry professionals and media representatives, demonstrating a proactive, joint effort by northern Taiwan's cities to expand into the Southeast Asian travel market.
Starting from the Airport: "Land and Go"
Positioning itself around its advantage as an international airport gateway, Taoyuan promoted 1 - 2-day "Land and Go" themed itineraries. These programs combine diverse offerings such as nature ecology, family-friendly experiences, farm tours, hot spring relaxation, and stargazing - highlighting how travelers can begin their journey seamlessly upon arriving in Taiwan. Travel operators from Singapore and Malaysia generally agreed that Taoyuan's itineraries connect easily between the airport and Taipei City, making them an ideal option for planning short- to mid-length trips in Taiwan and prompting active on-site inquiries.
Operators Exhibiting: One-on-One Business Matching
A total of 15 Taoyuan tourism businesses joined the delegation to exhibit, spanning accommodations, leisure farms, souvenir products, tea farms, travel agencies, and cultural tourism associations. Singaporean and Malaysian operators were impressed by Taoyuan's tourism offerings - bringing together mountain and coastal landscapes, urban convenience, and cultural depth - and noted that these in-depth experiences align well with the needs of their local markets. Many also raised opportunities for further cooperation and discussions during the event.
Cross-Border MOU Signing: Building a Long-Term Cooperation Platform
On the day of the conference, Taoyuan and the other three cities jointly signed tourism cooperation Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) and the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA). The agreements establish a cross-border platform for co-creating itineraries, facilitating business matching and promotion, and encouraging mutual visitor flows - laying an institutional foundation for the four cities' long-term engagement in the Southeast Asian market. Representatives from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore and the Taiwan Tourism Administration Singapore Office also attended in person, voicing support for northern Taiwan tourism.
Continued Market Development Ahead
Following the conference, the Taoyuan City Government will build on the matching results by continuing related marketing outreach, product design, and follow-up exchange activities to strengthen Taoyuan's visibility and appeal in the Southeast Asian travel market.
