In September 2025, the Department of Tourism, Taoyuan City Government, in coordination with the Tourism Administration, MOTC, held Taiwan tourism promotion events in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and also participated in the ITE international travel expo in Ho Chi Minh City - promoting Taoyuan's diverse tourism appeal to the Vietnamese market.
Vietnam Market Rising Rapidly
According to statistics from the Tourism Administration, MOTC, visitor arrivals from Vietnam to Taiwan exceeded 180,000 in the first five months of 2025, up 17.6% year on year. Vietnam has since become Southeast Asia's second-largest inbound tourism market for Taiwan. In response to this growth trend, Taoyuan's tourism authority has been actively expanding its outreach in Vietnam through a series of promotional initiatives.
ITE Ho Chi Minh City: Spotlight on Tourism Factory Experiences
ITE Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo was recognized at the 2024 World MICE Awards as Asia's Best Trade Show, attracting numerous international tourism industry participants. Centered on the theme of a "Kingdom of Tourism Factories," Taoyuan showcased a wide range of experiences - covering pastries, chocolate, bicycles, tea culture, musical instruments, functional textiles, traditional Chinese herbal medicine, and skincare products. Taoyuan also highlighted its transportation advantage: its proximity to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, which makes it convenient for travel agencies to plan connecting itineraries.
The Taiwan Pavilion, themed "Taiwan - Waves of Wonder," drew strong interest on site. Scenic postcards featuring the Northern Cross-Island Highway quickly ran out, reflecting Vietnamese visitors' strong enthusiasm for natural landscapes.

Diverse Highlights: A Comprehensive Showcase of Taoyuan
Beyond tourism factories, Taoyuan's promotional lineup also included:
Local Cuisine: Shimen Live Fish, Xinwu Goose Meat, and Longgang Yunnan-Myanmar Cuisine
Natural and Cultural Attractions: Lalashan Sacred Trees, Shihmen Reservoir, and Daxi Old Street
Festival Brands: Longgang Rice Noodle Festival, Taoyuan Lantern Festival, and Taoyuan Halloween City - highlighting Taoyuan's distinct positioning as a "City of Festivals"
Clear Growth Potential in Corporate Incentive Travel
Demand from Vietnamese companies for incentive travel to Taiwan is also rising. In 2024, incentive travel accounted for 28% of Vietnam's Tour Group Visa (Guan Hong Program) applications, an increase of roughly 20% over the previous year - indicating significant market potential for Vietnamese corporate groups.
The Taoyuan Department of Tourism stated that it will continue to deepen cooperation with Vietnam's travel industry, designing in-depth itineraries for Vietnamese visitors that integrate festival culture, local cuisine, and tourism factories, while further boosting Taoyuan's visibility in the Southeast Asian tourism market.
