Taoyuan Pearl Coast International Music Festival Blends Music and Basketball
The 2026 Taoyuan Pearl Coast International Music Festival opened on August 1 at Zhuwei Fishing Harbor, featuring three stages — "Pearl International," "Coastal Passion," and "Dream World" — that brought together international music performances, sporting events, and locally produced cultural programming.

The "Pearl International" stage brought together musicians from South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and Macau and featured local Taoyuan musicians. The "Dream World" stage hosted the finals of the Taoyuan Iron Rose Music Competition, with the student division competing on the first day and the open division on the second. The "Coastal Passion" stage featured the Taoyuan Cup National 3x3 Basketball Tournament and an exchange event with international professional basketball stars, including a two-time slam dunk contest champion who interacted with fans.

Over the summer, the festival also linked up with the Taoyuan Land Art Festival, which stretched from Zhuwei Fishing Harbor to Yongan Fishing Harbor, and the Taoyuan Shopping Festival, which launched on August 1. During the music festival, one-way traffic controls were in effect on roads around Zhuwei Fishing Harbor from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and attendees could use public transportation or a free shuttle service.

Local performers included teams developed through the Taoyuan Hakka Music Festival, Taoyuan Star Show, a foreign talent competition, and the Indigenous Peoples Music Festival, as well as musicians from the Taoyuan Iron Rose Music Competition. In addition to joining the exchange event, international professional basketball players also took to the music stage to meet the public, connecting sports and music.

The Taoyuan Shopping Festival also offered cash prizes, gift vouchers, and a car giveaway, encouraging visitors to take part while discovering local products and tourism highlights.
