Taoyuan Coastal Living Lab Opens: Connecting Pearl Coast Tourism Resources

Taoyuan Coastal Living Lab opened on July 9, 2026, at No. 69 Zhongshan Road, Guanyin District, serving as a co-creation base for the Pearl Coast transformation. It connects approximately 46 kilometers of coastal resources across Luzhu, Dayuan, Guanyin and Xinwu districts, providing information on attractions, travel consultation and local exchange services.

The base features exhibition displays, travel guides and seating areas, showcasing ten transformation cases involving shops, accommodations and sites. These include guesthouse welcome bags, themed fragrances, decorative cushions and recycled fishing-net bags made from marine debris, helping visitors discover local brands and design outcomes. Coastal resources along the route include fishing ports, wetlands, sand dunes, algal reefs, stone weirs and maritime Hakka culture.

The "2026 Taoyuan Pearl Coast Photography Award — Coastal Living Light and Shadow Project" accepted submissions from July 9 to September 4 and featured a daytime "Light Category" and a nighttime "Shadow Category," inviting the public to capture the coastal scenery and daily life of the four districts using cameras or smartphones. Each category offered gold, silver and bronze prizes as well as honorable mentions, with a top prize of NT$ 12,000.

The site's design incorporates the "PEARL" brand concept of parent-child activities, exploration, vitality, richness and connection, presenting the development of the coastal brand through case studies and text-and-image displays. The base also continues to gather local needs and connect collaborative resources, serving as a communication hub for program implementation and community engagement. Photography competition entries may feature daily port life, cultural events and accommodation stories. Details and registration information are available on the "Taoyuan Coastal Living Lab" Facebook page.
